Queensland Open Data Portal
Designed a geological data portal for the Queensland Government, serving the state's $38B mining industry.

The Challenge
Queensland's mining industry is worth $38 billion. The Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy needed to make vast geological datasets publicly accessible to support strategic decision-making across that sector. The portal's audience spans corporate teams in city offices to field surveyors on remote sites — each with different needs, connectivity constraints, and technical literacy.

Design & Delivery
I leveraged the Queensland Government's Single Website Experience framework for consistency, accessibility, and development speed. The entire design phase — from stakeholder meetings through high-fidelity mockups and a clickable prototype — was delivered in under 40 hours. The tight timeline demanded decisive design choices: no unnecessary exploration, just clear solutions that met user requirements while working within CKAN and the government design system.

Outcome
The GSQ Open Data Portal launched in 2020 and continues to serve Queensland's mining industry, researchers, and government agencies.
